The annual Brisbane Sculpture Festival run by Sculptors Queensland will open on Friday the 24th of May and close on Sunday the 26th May.
It is a more significant event this year than usual in that it is Sculptors Queensland’s 50th Anniversary.
I will be exhibiting a new piece at this event.

2019

Sculptors Exposed

From the 30th March to the 8th of June I will be part of the ‘Sculptors Exposed’ exhibition at the Pine Rivers Art Gallery.
This is a mainly photographic exhibition by Gerry O’Conner featuring 25 local artists.
I have created a sculpture ‘Mach 1’ especially for this exhibition.
There will be a ‘Sculptors Forum’ (Q and A) on the 13th of April from 10.30am to 12pm which I will also be part of.

Downlands College Exhibition

I exhibited some of my work at the Downlands College 31st Exhibition in September.
This well organised and consistently well attended event is a credit to curator Evan Hollis who’s enthusiasm and passion ensures a great showcase of art in a variety of media.
It’s always a pleasure to be part of this exhibition which is now in it’s 31st year.

Rotary Art Spectacular

I will be exhibiting at the ‘Rotary Art Spectacular’ (15th – 19th May) with my new piece ‘Electron 13’. The exhibition is at Central Plaza One, Queens Street Brisbane. This is a high profile event and I am really pleased to be a finalist again.

I will be exhibiting at ‘Signatures Fine Art Exhibition’ Topiaries, Samford from February 7^th to the 10^th.

2014

At the annual Sculptors Queensland exhibition at Mt Coot-Tha I won the ‘Perides Art Foundry Award’ with the judge being Campbell Gray from the University Of Queensland Art Museum.

I also exhibited again at the ‘Rotary Art Spectacular’.

From November 2^nd to the 9^th ‘Expressions In Sculpture’, held at Riverside Place, will showcase local sculptors as part of the G20 celebrations. ‘Euclidean Space’ will be part of that exhibition which I’m sure will be a great success held at such a great venue.

Showcase for Sculptors Queensland.

I also exhibited at the annual Sculptors Queensland show at Mt Coot-Tha and Rotary Art Spectacular.

In May I celebrated the birth of my daughter Evelyn.

2012

I was shortlisted for the Stanthorpe Art Prize with ‘Equinox’ which was then part of the exhibition that ran from February 24^th to April 9th.

I decided to put in a piece at the annual Sculptors Queensland exhibition held on May 26^th – 27^th at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha and chose to enter ‘Equinox’. I assisted to set up the indoor exhibition in the auditorium which I really enjoyed. Meeting other sculptors and discussing the optimum location and heights for dozens of exhibits was very satisfying.I went to the official opening on the Saturday and was awarded ‘Best Indoor Sculpture’ with the judge being Glenn Cooke from the Queensland Art Gallery GOMA here in Brisbane.

‘A beautifully executed example of modern metal sculpture the control of the rather intractable medium of aluminium is exceptional. The interweaving of the form is particularly well handled and makes a bright decorative statement’
(Glenn Cooke, May 2012).

I was very happy and honoured to be given this award as there were some really great sculptures in the exhibition and such a wide variety of media used.

2011

The birth of my son Miles in March was the highlight of the year for me, and understandably the focus of most of our attention. I did manage to have a small solo show at the Pine Rivers Art Gallery. A selection of local artists being invited to occupy the large window area individually for two weeks. The gallery staff are very helpful and enthusiastic which ensured that the work was appropriately displayed. It was quite inspiring to see a small body of my work together in a gallery setting.

I was shortlisted for the Moreton Bay Regional Art Awards with my sculpture ‘Vessel’.
